Blogging from Mickey's Retreat

I understand that I am very far behind on this blog, but it is only because I've been so Disney busy!! Currently on my last day of my three day weekend sunbathing with Cherry at Mickeys Retreat which is an area near housing for cast members and friends and family with swimming pools, volly ball, paddle boats, picnic areas etc. it's very Nice and makes a change from the commons pool with Italians diving in and making a splash all the time! I've really enjoyed the last few days, yesterday was a lazy day by the pool, followed by tea at planet Hollywood at downtown Disney and them out to Cowboys nightclub to drink beer and line dance with the locals. It was just as good as it was last Saturday night, defiantly my favourite place to go, evening wise, so far. The day before was animal kingdom with Kate Kerry and Pippa and them to magic kingdom for wishes and parades an shows and a few rides. Ran into Elle, Lauren, Andrea, nick and Logan towards the end and we all went a bit crazy waiting for the bus from TTC to take us back to the commons and it was so hot and the bus was so late that we all went slightly mad, funny to look back on now, but wasn't at the time!! And so before then which is the massive gap in this blog since last I updated, I have been to Disney university, done lots of training, tours around Epcot and magic kingdom during Discovery Day and Traditions Day. Mickey mouse (the boss) made an appearance to hand us our name badges, we had a day off and went to universal studios, went to downtown Orlando to a nightclub that had $1 vodka slushies and basically had a blast with all my new Disney buddies! Will blog soon about my training at work , tomorrow's my last day "earning my ears'

Day One & Two

Waltmart, at 11:30pm, after 24 hours travel on 3 hours sleep before leaving my house, was not the best welcome to my American life style. I mean it was exciting to be there and see all the poptart flavours and philidalphia flavours and everything was in $, but we had a subway for our tea that late, and then grabbed a trolly each and went for it....and it was just so hetic!!  There were people, children, everywhere! the trolly was really difficult to steer and the place is massive from end to end and we couldn't find what we needed.  I got my pillow and bedding and some juice, bagels etc.  Then when we got the the tills the ques were massive, had to wait for hours, and the bags they had were tiny, you could fit like one load of bread in them, so i bought some shopping bags for 50cents each and packed everything in that, just! Then we got the taxi back that we got in, a crazy dude who had a kareoke machine in and sang dancing queen, and he told us fun facts about disney world.

When I got back to my flat, my new room mate was there too, earlier when i dropped my stuff off, her stuff was there too but no her, but i could tell she was brand new as she hadn't unpacked her suitcase either.  She is lovely, called Arianna, from Mexico and says she will teach me spainish and cook mexican food for us, winner!!

The next day was my first morning in America!  And as Arianna had to go to Orinentation early, I spent the morning unpacking my suitcase as I woke up at 5:30am (with jet lag I guess, but I am so behind on my sleep at this point, I don't know why i didn't sleep until noon because I had the chance!).  I also met my other two housemates as we are in a two bedroom apartment, they are two girls from Japan, but keep themselves to themselves, after exchanging hellos and chocolate from each others countries, I went and met Kate and Elle and we had a wonder around The Commons housing complex and sat by the pool waiting for our Orinentation day which started at 1pm.  We go ID cards for housing (my photo got stretched on the card, not happy!) We then crossed the road from the Commons, through a car park and went to the Premium outlet malls which i recognised from my holiday last year!! Can't believe when shopping last september I was metres away from my new home!  We all still had out sticker name tags on from the orientation day so everyone kept saying our names in shops we went into.  We went to The Fudgery, a shop which was making amazing fudge and we stayed to watch this show that they put on to get free samples.  The two guys there that was entertaining us and making the fudge were hilarious but kept shouting out "hey chloe, you're really scaring me with that laugh, just calm down now your free sample's coming soon...and then you can buy some, everybody say yeah!!" was so funny, and they could sing, i have a video of them singing.

That evening we got to meet some lovely girls who work in the UK pavillion already and we all just sat around the pool all evening talking about the job and the life style.  Ooh- we also went to Cici's pizza today for lunch where we got disney discount and got all pizza, pasta, salad, drink and desserts for like £4 amazing!!!  And we met an Italian guy at the pool this morning....called Frank! How random!! Met loads of people from Canada and our UK lot get along really well with them, yay :)

I arrived safe and sound, eventually

Oh my Disney Joy!! I have been here no longer than two full days and already done so much!!

It all began with over 30 hours of travelling from my home, to Birmingham airport, saying goodbye to mummy and daddy (totes emosh) then flying to Paris airport all by myself - what a grown up I am!  Then after an hour delay at Paris, finally got onto the plane to go to Orlando where I had the emergancy door seat and so had the biggest amount of legroom space you could get, for the girl who has the shortest legs on the plane!  I sat next to two french teenage lads who were in a group of about 30 - god help whoever where in charge of that lot, but my two new plane friends were fine, and we watched the same films together to laugh at the same time, i helped them fill out their blue forms to get into the US and they gave me their brie from their meal, which make me smile with joy and they laughed at me.  I got no sleep on the plane, there were too many films to watch!! But 9 hours later I landed in Orlando airport and as soon as i got off and into the airport, I could smell the air-con and grinned because I had arrived in AMERICA!

I found Andy who had been there for hours,we then found Elle who wasn't long after me.  I managed to find and meet James and Pippa quickly who had come together from northern ireland and they got the shuttle to housing, but we stayed to wait for Lauren and Kate.  After lots of texts and running around the airport, we now know Kate was on the otherside of that massive airport and Lauren was stuck in a long immigration que.  The joy when Lauren turned up with her suitcases was epic as Andy had then been in that airport for something like 8 hours waiting for us all.  We found Kate the next day at housing as she very bravly made her way to housing welcome meeting on her own.  But after getting into the shuttle, having to get out and get into a taxi because they said it would be quicker and the same price, getting the the vista way welcome centre with free cookies and fruit, jumping up and down squeeling, being shipped over to the Commons by Justin, they best and by far the most entertaining american we have met - so far - and letting him carry my suitcase to my room which is on the top floor of building 7 & in The Commons (his idea, not mine, phew!) I finally arrived in my new home with aircon and en-suite etc....we then had to go to Walmart....that will take up a whole new post of it's own.... *shudders remembering the experience*

3 more sleeps...

Hello to all!

I have finally found 10 spare minutes to create a blog for my travels to WDW, which start very soon!  With less than 100 hours to go, I have a suitcase packed (22kg - on it!) and printed out all my paper work/tickets/info that I think I need.  Rather than counting down the days, which most of you know started in the 300s, I am now coming around to my 'last time' of everything.  This weekend will include the last time of seeing some of my buddies, last time of eating my favourite foods and I just had the 'last time I will see my hair straighteners until I get to housing in Disney because they have just been stuffed into the bottom of my suitcase'.

Overall I think I am very ready to go, this has been a long time coming.  Some days I'm excited and just burst into squeels of joy, other times I just burst into tears!  But all these 'totes emosh' times are of course because I am moving to live and work in the the most magical place on earth!  I can not wait to get on that plane, get there, find my new Disney buddies in Orlando airport, take a photo of the blue sky and sunshine and post it on facebook to let you all know I got there safely (and to brag a little bit) and then settle into housing with a Walmart trip and wear my new PJs to bed after a very long day of travelling.  That moment will be magical because I know I will have made it and ready to begin my magical adventure!

Will update as much as possible, I don't know how long it will take to get internet when I'm there, but when I do I'll be right back here to explode with joy and the happenings of my first few days in Disney!
